Class Length : Approx. 8 Hours
Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate
This class is designed to teach students the fundamental skills and mindset required to effectively use semiauto pistols in a defensive situation.
The class includes classroom and range portions. The classroom segment is a thorough overview of safety, pistol types, nomenclature, functions/malfunctions, marksmanship, ammunition, gear selection and setup and more.
Next is the range portion of the class, with live fire drills at various distances, rapid target acquisition drills, multiple target engagements, and more while the instructors work with students to focus on building solid fundamentals. Fundamentals are what this this class is all about. Solid fundamentals are what make the difference when it counts.
This class is taught by Andy Hewitt, a veteran of the US Army's 75th Ranger Regiment with multiple combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, and Matt Schneider, owner of Sugar Creek and KY Department of Criminal Justice Training / NRA Certified firearms instructor.
What To Bring
At least one semiautomatic pistol chambered in 9mm or bigger, approx. 300 rounds of ammunition (Sugar Creek has 9mm, 40sw, and 45acp for sale if you need it). At least 3 working magazines. Ear/Eye protection. Long pants and shoes you can stand for several hours in. Bring a water bottle - there will be a water refill station on the range. There is a Subway and a Mcdonald's nearby, or you can pack a lunch or bring something to cook on our grill.
When you arrive at the clubhouse, please be sure the weapon and magazines you will be using are unloaded.
